Wild Flower Patch

We recently decided to create a wild flower patch on the grass next to our driveway.  You may have seen the new sign explaining why that section of grass hasn't been mown?!

Although some wild flowers grow further up the drive, it's more difficult for the children to safely visit them as there is no pathway.  The new patch, being on the grass section, allows the children to watch out for insects, bugs and bees!

On this newly created patch, we have sown wild flower seeds, hung an insect box (courtesy of Torfaen Healthy and Sustainable Preschool), added a hedgehog house and are awaiting delivery of some bird houses to put on the trees nearby and some bug hunting gear.

We are now just waiting for the wild flowers to grow, which may take some time!

Some of the children have been visiting this newly created area and naturally visited the pigs at the same time, feeding them some of our older left over fruit and vegetables.
