The position is part time, 5 days a week, approximately 2.5 hours a day. The successful candidate will be catering for babies and children up to aged 8, including those with allergies and special dietary requirements.
The successful candidate will require a high standard of personal and food hygiene and be able to follow all food safety procedures and practises already in place. They must be able to work closely with Senior Practitioners within the childcare setting and will be responsible to the Senior Managers and Owners.
Little Chums offers an established 3 week rotating and balanced menu. Duties will include, but not be limited to:
* Preparing lunch and light tea.
* Ensuring the Little Chums kitchen remains compliant with the Health and Safety and Food Safety regulations, while continuing to maintain our Level 5 food hygiene rating.
* Stock control and rotation.
* Completing associated food hygiene paperwork.
* General cleaning of the kitchen and equipment/appliances.
* Interacting with (but not caring for) young children.
* Meet regularly with a Senior Manager to discuss food safety matters, changes in legislation, further training and so on.
* With support from a Senior Manager, meet with other professionals as necessary, e.g. Food Safety Inspector, Care Standards Inspector, Pest Control Representative, etc.
The successful candidate will require a food safety certificate at Level 2 as a minimum – training is available for those without. Previous experience of working in a kitchen, café or similar environment is desirable, but not essential.
The successful candidate will require an enhanced DBS police check (paid for by Little Chums) and suitable professional references before employment (not necessarily food preparation related).
Uniform is provided. For a suitable candidate, free childcare is available at Little Chums during working hours only, for 1 child aged 3 or above, with any lunch you prepare provided free for this child.
