We would like to apologise to our parents for any disruption you experienced yesterday or this morning and thank you for your patience and cooperation.
National Grid were given permission to access the rear fields to upgrade the power lines, work that was necessary for the area which we fully support and appreciate. However they were *NEVER* given permission to use our driveway or field as a staging point to drop-off heavy vehicles and equipment or as a car park. At no point was the extent of this *EVER* explained to us.
We became very concerned at one point when there were 15 vehicles parked without permission in our field behind Preschool (and nowhere near where the work was taking place) around our septic tank, a crane was hitting our trees and there were small vehicles driving back and forth with a disregard for our speed limits.
We did phone to express our concern and a manager was sent, but his attitude was, "That's not what we were told and we've almost finished anyway."
We had to amend our plans for the day as it was not safe for the children to be outside.
To top the whole sorry story, there were vehicles here again this morning using us as a car park and after they left, a very inappropriate item was found by a parent and handed to us.
Although we want to be helpful to other organisations, the safety of your children is our utmost priority and we will not allow access again if any workmen are on site who have a complete disregard for the fact that we are a day care setting with young children present.
We are, frankly, disgusted by the way we were treated by the National Grid on this occasion.
